What's the difference between straight-through cable & crossover cable??? and how can I distinguish those???

It's the way there wired Take a look
this is an example of a cross over with RJ45 heads on the Cat 5 wiring http://www.gcctech.com/ts/doc/crossover.html

Keep in mind if you plan to make your own its the brass tips up when setting them up.
