Thanks for the info. New viruses are scripted and sent daily.. best practice is to only accept files from those you trust, if at all.

Yes, and you should be leary of *unexpected email attachments from those you know, also. Just because it came from your friends email address doesn't mean it's safe... http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif
~ If someone sends me something I wasn't expecting, before I open it I ask them if they really sent it. It stinks having to be this paranoid, but a little caution can prevent having to do a reformat/reinstall... http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
fjt2000,
I'm sorry but I did'nt understand a word you said!

I'm sorry but I did'nt understand a word you said!He said he got a file from an ICQ user that is/contained a virus. He said it's too new for Norton and McAfee anti-virus software to detect, and that it infects your computer after you restart. He also said that he would post any further info that he discovers. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
Seen way to many of these this year.

Someone would have to be an idiot to open a file with an .exe extension that claims to be a picture. It doesnt take Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out.

Well, not everyone is a seasoned Internet veteran like you Johnny. Some people do not know these things. We all had to learn this stuff and we're all learning every day.
Some people learn by getting flamed, some learn from teachers. I tend to side with the latter when it comes to this forum.
Let's teach. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif
