Could someone help me solve these issues please ?

I'm using:
Operating System: Windows XP
Security Programs : Norton Antivirus 2005 , Spyware doctor ..
to Download : FlashGet
I have Cable ( 256 KB /Sec )

the problems are :

1) When i download from certain FTP's ( i'm behind Firewall ) sometimes i can download without problems ... some other times ( when i turn on the computer next day for example ) i can Not download unless : [a] i turn off the firewall , or i Restart my computer ( which works only sometimes , mostly doesNot work ) ..

I did go to the Firewall options and Norton Options to make sure FlashGet is Excluded ..

Why does this happen ? [B]Why is the Firewall acting Randomly? ( sometimes it allows me to download / sometiomes not ... note : i'm downloading from the same FTP every time )
How can i solve this ?

2) this is a different subject ..
Is there a way to Download a streaming video ?

There are some Lectures on the web that i can only stream ( only online ) , but i really don't have that much time to watch it all .. so , if there is a way i can download the streaming video , it would help me a lto with my studies ..!

Thank you for all your help !

Do you have the entire Norton Internet Security Suite? Any other firewalls? I prefer just routers..and their NAT.

Ack....OK

Well...first thing I'd do, is get the machine cleaned up...I'm not fond of having PCs sit on a public IP address, much prefer to have them behind a router for protection.

Anyways...do a thorough cleaning with anti-ad/spyware programs...such as

well...follow MNOs tips here...

I'm not sure...I don't really deal with that. In the media player, once it's been downloaded..and cached...try "Save As" with your media player?

Machine running any better after a cleaning?

Machine running any better after a cleaning?
I cleaned as described , the scaning results of three programs ( Ad-Aware , Spyware Doctor , Norton Antivirus ) were ok .. no bugs , no spy/ad ware ..
But i still can't figureout why is the firewall (sometimes ) blocking my downloads from certain FTP's and sometimes not !!??
