Shaw finally got smart in my area and modified the send & receive frequencies to a higher range out of the sub 20 MHz range which means stronger signal and ouble the speed

I just got the ultrafast2..so far its pretty good...getting varied results from the speedtests (d/l anywhere from 5298Kbps to 432Kpbs and u/l at 254 Kbps..a bit faster than they said it would be)..I tried a d/l at www.happypuppy.com (http://www.happypuppy.com) and got it at around 350 K/sec..napster d/l from T1 at 120 K/sec..I don't know how all this compares to dsl or cable, but I'm happy with it so far..

The u/l is a lot faster than most people on cable/DSL. My friend has Sprint Wireless Broadband and gets just about the same speeds. How much do u pay per month and what was the install fee? Did u have to buy the hardware or is the lease included in the monthly fee?

Yeah I just downloaded something from Happypuppy.com my self I got 798KB but it kept going down and then stayed at 460KB...

I like my download speeds but my upload speeds suck with my Cable! And lLookultrafast 2 is the same price for cable and I would love faster download speed but I am getting it for the better upload speeds too... damn I get like 40KB upload! It sucks ass for an FTP! Well people upload at great speeds cuz I have good download speeds but its so annoying to let ppl download off me cuz I slow down so much and they get like 30KB or 15KB it sucks ass!

Well, after a day of testing the ultrafast2, it seems pretty solid...its costing $39/month and that includes the modem rental..upgrade was free, but its normally $69...the only problem i've found so far is that i can't seem to access the newsgroups...i called them up and they said something about changing the settings to lan connect instead of dialup in my software..i'm kinda lost here..can anyone help?

well, its a flat square dish, about 1'*1' thats on the roof..i live in mississauga..the signal is picked up from the CN Tower...i believe im about 25km away..weather doesn't affect it...i asked the install guy if i could run a server, and he said ya, they've been setting the service up in local businesses, there's one Pro, I guess...he said theres no d/l u/l limits, but if you phone them up, they tell you 5 gig/month d/l, and 2 gig/month u/l...Does anyone know if they can check how much traffic you're doing, or if your running server software?...sorry to hear you're still waitin, Kryptic, you'll be happy when you get it!

My Shaw@Home is quite fast and they still have a lot of work to do BTW, I am the fastest one in my domain on DSLR.

Browsers would show : about a 420.2 k/sec transfer rate.

I am getting $300.00 per month to put a hub relay on my roof and free internet.
I am told that it will be 100 times faster then 56 k. If it is just half that, I will be happy.

I booked the install about 2 weeks before they actually installed it..havent tried it for any gaming yet, but the ping rates (from me to www.look.ca (http://www.look.ca) is normally between 25-30ms)...what is the best speed test I can try to get some accurate d/l u/l speeds? I've tried a few, but the results vary quite a bit..

I'd called tech support Friday, Saturday and today, and today they said the modem have a problem and they have to exchange the modem, WTF poor Look and poor Tech support keep me hold the phone for an hour wait. Hey coldfinger do u have any problem after they install? and also what color is your modem?

The only problems I have with my utrafast2 right now is that I still can't access the newsgroups...the tech support could be better,too...thats if you can even get someone on the phone, I'm been on hold for over an hour now..lol...I was able to get my 2 pcs on the 'net with the software at www.internetshare.com (http://www.internetshare.com) ,nothing else seemed to work for me...other than that all is good so far...the modem is blue hybrid..

Finally have the service available to me. For those of you wondering about the wait times for having it installed. Its 1-2 weeks. Have to wait 2 weeks for it. Seems they are really busy at the moment. I just hope it works well or its back to cable. By the way thanks coldfinger for the info.

I have posted a fairly detailed review of Look Ultrafast2 in Toronto. I've had it since Oct.26th. Read it here;
http://sympaticousers.org/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000323.html

Any follow up questions you have you should post on that forum, I check here rarely.

If you have their Look TV service as well, can you watch TV on your PC using a video card with video-input ?

I mean would I need to rent another discrambler from Look.ca or I could just use the standard TVTuner program provided with my video card ??

Thanx!
