Are there any reg tweaks to use with windows 2000 pro with the @Home cable modem service? Does anyone also know how to copy over the cab files over from the windows 2000 CD to the hard drive?

Cabs are copied to the hard drive with win2k, you no longer need to do it.

Why does my computer still promt for the windows 2000 cd when adding other components in add remove programs? Originally posted by tharris1:

Go take a look I assume your looking to speed it up a little

There is a way to I got to go back and look I'll see if I can get you the cabs thing also
As far as I know its suppose to take most of it to the drive thou.....

Dannjr is correct. The cab files ?? should be in a folder called somethinglike D:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386 and or
D:\WINNT\Driver Cache\i386 . You can do a search for i386 to find it. It may have been deleted in an effort to save space.

Can you copy all the files from the CD in the i386 directory over to the hard drive? There are additional folders in the i386 directory that are there but I don't think that they are that important as far as cab files are concerned? Originally posted by richardc:
