Modem Sync

Sometimes my modem is in sync and I can get downloads up to 900kbps on a 1000/128 service. Then for no apparent reason my sync light on my modem can flicker and my downloads will drop drastically. I've tried different modems and still get the same problem . Are there any tweaks or something I can do to improve this?

What type of modem do you have? Did it come with a troubleshooting guide?What does a flashing sync light mean?The problem may be outside in the cable and not with the modem at all.Does it occur during a certain time of day? Set up a trouble call for around that time,have the tech take your modem to the tap(access point on the mainline located up the pole or in a pedastal)and surf there with a laptop.That will definitely narrow it down to your address or in the mainline.
