Wireless network connected but no Internet

Hello,

I have the following configuration

Cable Modem (UK)
Netgear WGT624 wireless router
Sony Vaio Notebook

Now i know the router is working because I am able to wirelessley connect to it on another notebook. On the Vaio the computer connects to the wireless network and i have an excellent connection. The IP address is assigned and the wireless router shows that the vaio is connected. However I am unable to browse the internet.

Can anyone think of what it could be?

2 quick questions:
What IP has been assigned to the notebook? If it starts 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, DHCP isn't working.
If you connect the notebook to the router by Cat5, do you get internet access?

My guess is it has an Intel 2200BG internal wireless.They can have some real problems. Consider downloading the latest drivers from Sony (if they have any), and if not- go direct to Intel and download theirs. Although they warn you to try mfg. first, I've generally found them to work well. The earlier drivers for these cards had some real quirks. Seen it a lot.
