Great pings, erratic throughput.

Hi. I have Comcast @home. My pings are great and average 15 ms to the gateway, however my download throughput as all over the place! If I ftp from a fast site, my throughput varies from 400kbps to 3000kbps and averages to about 2000 kbps. I can watch it realtime using a utility and the download is more spikey than a bed of nails! I've done all the tweaks. Any suggestions?

Try lowering the MTU just a touch if its normally 1500 try 1496 or 1498..
Everything else in FTP is mute. In other words the rest of the settings arn't nessassarly used in the ftp..
