Hello, I have Cox Hight Speed Internet connect connect to a Cisco 2126 router running NAT. When I'm connected straight from the Cable modem to my PC, I get 12Mbps Download speed, but when I connect from, Cable Modem to Cisco 2621 Router to 1900 Cisco switch my speed decreases over half. Can any help me with this problem.
Thanks

I'm sorry to say I can't help with your issue, but maybe you can help me with mine: I inherited a Cisco 2620. Other than vast networking experience:rotfl:, I have not had any Cisco experience. I do not have a password or anything for this router.
I have searched on the 'net a bit, but am confused about the Cisco licensing, etc. Even tho I have a router in my possesion legally, do I still have to buy a password for it? I sure hope not.
I need help getting into this router so I can start to learn a bit about Cisco. Any help appreciated.
As I recall the 1900 series was largely 10Mbps, so that would explain a great amount of how bandwidth is lost. They simply can't handle the modern network speeds. A more modern 100Mbps switch with more processing power would probably remove any issues.
I won't get into the legalities of Cisco licensing. However it is possible to get into the device if you own it for free. It is a pretty involved procedure involving forcig the device into rommon mode and erasing the current password, which could possibly damage the current config. Just do a search on Cisco for "2620 password recovery" or "2620 password reset" and you will find what you need to get rid of any passwords that have been forgotten or not passed along from previous users.

good luck, it's really pretty much the easiest thing you can do with a cisco router. Everything beyond that starts to get pretty complex, HELLO SUBNETTING!
Can you please give me detailed instructions on how to connect my cisco 36xx or my 26xx to cox high speed modem, thanks
