Need bandwidth limiter

Hey all.. I could use any help you can give me on this... I need to limit my upload speed but I don't want to run linux. I use 98, ME, and 2000 wks so I need a windows based prog. Let me know if i can edit some registry settings or what. THanks alot ;]

I believe you're out of luck. The only way to allocate bandwith is w/ expensive hardware, such as Cisco routers.

Anyway, why do you wish to limit your upload?

You know, that'd only work if you were the host... Most people would probobly leave because of lag if you did...

You could lag yourself if you decreased you upload. What's your upload cap?

What if you upload a huge file to some ftp site while you play the game?

The would certainly cut down your upload speed to the game server, no?

How would it make it harder for them to kill you?? Unless you are running the server and creating lag for others so that its like shooting fish in a barrel, which if you would like to have a popular, you will not acheive this via making everyone lag.

If you are not running a server then why would you lag yourself making it easier for them to kill you not harder. Little better explaination of the goal here would help.

Basically for online gaming if you are dieing alot you will probably keep dying. Whether they are lagging or u are skipping. Concentrate more on improving aim/movements/other skills, instead of trying to find quick ways around it. With online gaming more is better, u want lower ping, not higher. Again, if you are getting killed now you will be killed even if you or they are lagging. Get better by skill, not by adjusting settings :D :D :D

Aaladar...If I hosted everyone would definately leave. With @home I can't even host a 12 player game w/o people crying about the lag, which is understandable. 128kbps doesnt go very far.

Glc1...i've got crap@home so my upload cap is 128kbps.

Silver...You don't play Delta Force do you? Logic coupled with game experience tells me that if I can recieve data faster than I can transmit, I can get enemy position before the enemy can get mine. With Delta Force you only need that split second to pop your head over a hill and zero in on someone. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about with this game.

i am a big delta force player and i know what your talking about. the players with the most lag tend to be the best players.
u want to send low and recieve high. u can tweak your reg. settings, but all are different. i have tried everything that i know, if you learn anything let me know.

ah see, ok ya got me there, i dont play delta force, everything i play is ping driven. The better yer ping the better u do.
