I recently bought a laptop and wireless router. My existing PC is connected the the router using a network cable and my laptop is using wireless. Both are able to get on the internet through the router but are having problems seeing each other. I want to setup a network so that the laptop can print from the printer connected to the PC and share files.

Assuming your OS is WinXP on both rigs
On your PC...go ahead and "share" your printer.
In the XP firewall, make sure File and Printer sharing are allowed as exceptions.
Your laptop will pick it up through auto-detect....within an hour.

yes I'm running xp on both machines. I have setup printer and file sharing on the PC but the laptop still can't see it.

I run Win2K on my desktop and WinXP Home Ed. on my laptop.
In order for me to use my desktop printer I have to go to one of my desktops shares and login on with username and password. after that the printer works fine.
Might try it. Not sure how to change it..
