I use a router a Microsoft Mn700 and the ports i need open are forwarded on there and when i forward em on my Westell the programs still say im firewalled and the windows firewall service is completely off and i have no software firewall and i cant turn NAT off in the westell if i could i would. I got the westell wirespeed 2100 BellSouthB90-220030-04 and i run bellsouths ADSL 1.5 MBPS Ultra i just wanna be able to download fast off most progs and use a program called Piolet casue it wont connect for nothing i've forwarded the ports on the modem and enabled them like it said on portforward.com but it didnt work... anyway if someone could help me itd be a relief.. thanks a lot!

You're double NAT'ing. Port forwarding doens't work too smoothly when doing so, on consumer grade routers. What you'd to is port forward on your westell to the WAN IP of your Microsoft router..then on your MS router..port forward to the LAN IP of your rig. But...I dont' recommend that.

What you want to do, is either add an access point to your westell....so your Westell does the only instance of NAT, and your PPPoE. It's been a while since I've worked on Microsofts MN routers....I can't recall if they can be flipped to pure access point mode.

*sidenote to above method*...if you can change the LAN IP of the mn700 to one in the same range as your westell...like 192.168.1.253 if your westell is 192.168.1.1....and disable DHCP on the mn700....and uplink it to your westell using a LAN port on your mn700..to a LAN port on your westell..then you've in effect changed the mn700 to an access point..bypassing its router feature.

Or...flip the westell into pure bridged mode (just a plain old DSL modem now)...and use your own router for the PPPoE and NAT. I've done this on several Verizon setups. I just call their support if I'm not familiar with the westell unit I'm sitting in front of...you tell them your router is your problem, not theirs, just ask them to walk you through reconfiguring the westell device as a pure bridged modem.

If doing any reconfiguration..make sure you know your PPPoE username and password before you start redoing things.

ok i got it setup with the router being PPPOE and the Modem in bridged Ethernet mode. OK now on the router the MN700 it has a thing for Disconnect and i put the max amount of numbers in for it but it keeps disconnecting me what can i do about that?
