Windows update problems

Well ,
I had set my autoupdate to manual , ( trying to reduce the number of services , running in the background , for my gaming ) and then after the updates last night, I had to use Restore to roll back a day.
Seems the one for the windows shell had left me without a desktop right click menu !
I went back to Windows Update , and did them selectively w/o that one.
has anyone else seen this behavior ?
I am next out to shut down the 2 services once again... BITS & eventlogging ( well back to manual )
was I holding my mouth wrong or had I done something wrong ?:rolleyes:
so far , since the rerun on them , alls well.:rockin:

Well seems I have had a cascade of issues since
doing the new updates.
This morning , had the Windows Security Shield warning up in the tray ,
saying that my AV was reporting OFF ?
it wasnt ! so I uninstalled and re-installed, took the shield warning off.
But strange the number of issues that I have seen from this .
I ran Spy Bot... it reported alls clear ...?
Now what is OSA ? it is hanging on shutdown ?
I lost my right click on desktop menu somewhere.

Well that cascade was never ending !!
I coulnt seem to find the root of it.... so ,
I restored back to Sunday , before I had issues, and now
alls smurfy again. Windows explorer isnt sluggish ,
had to repair AVG, and it seems for the moment ...
OK.
I know what this usually means that I fubar'd something.
But I for the life of me figure out what , unless one of the updates , didnt install right , I am going back to check for them next.
