hello

here is my little problem:

The text below tells me everything I need to know about my ADSL connection and it says its not optimal, because of my router is pushing the
throughput down to 1400 when it should be at least 1492.

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP properties for IP = 83.108.27.181 ()
Browser/OS = Opera/8.52 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
TCP options string = 0204055001010402

MTU = 1400
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.

MSS = 1360
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 63920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 63920

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
522240 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 8)
261120 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 4)
130560 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 2)
65280 (MSS x 48)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2556.8 kbps (319.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 1022.72 kbps (127.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 58 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

My router: Jensen Scandinavia, Wireless Broadband Router,
Air:Link WBR 6911.

The router works fine but I want that little extra that the router is stealing from me, so can i fix this in someway?

I have access to the router, but where do I fix the throughput?

thx for any help

FYI... on my netgear its on the "WAN Setup" page... also... netgear default MTU=1500.... someone needs to email Jensen

 Log onto the routers web admin...manually set the MTU to 1492.

I can't find "MTU" anywhere, but I see "WAN access type" which I can set to PPPoE and guess that adjusts the setting for MTU. But it has to be wrong since it's automatically is set to 1400, and I'm just guessing now since it's that low and it should be 1492.

I'm e-mailing Jensen right away and see if they can sort this out.
Thanks for the replies, appreciate it :)
