just a quick question does anyone know if your cable has to be either 3.5db or 7db or does it matter I am
using shaw cable with a terayon modem (thin version)would this affect the speed at all can't get ahold or
response from shaw

It depends on the modem, but it usualy works with +/- 4db. If the modem doesn't like the signal strength, it probably won't sync at all, or it will drop the connection often. Otherwise, it doesn't generally affect speed.
