Hello,
the problem is (briefly):
It takes quite long a time (28 ...30 s) to open a new website on any of the 3 Computers of our LAN (2 WinXP, 1 Redhat Linux - all Opera 8.52 browser).
Access to DSL 2000 modem is via a Netgear FR 314 router (NAT with PPPoE, as required by the ISP (1&1.de).
The transmission rate between router and ISP was verified at 238.5 KB/s and the provider says it is o.k.
There is a strange additional effect: Frequently, a second click on the link to an URL will accerlerate the process, but sometimes a "page not found" error message is generated - I guess because of a time out (whereever it occurs).
I tried TCP-Optimizer - but without a noticeable result.
By the way: What is the proper value for "Connection speed" in the General Window of TCP-Optimizer: a) the theoretical speed of the dsl line? or b) the theoretical speed within the LAN?
