question please about dsl

Hi, I just got dsl few days ago, and i like to usualy switch the ethernet cord from pc to ps2. What worries me though is are you suposed to unplug the dsl modem before switching the ethernet cord from the pc to some other device or is it safe to leave it pluged up? Another question is, is it safe to leave your dsl modem pluged up while you are asleep? thank you for your help

Ya DSL and cable are commonly left on, never turn mine off.

No need to turn off the modem for switching the plug either.
