Help me out I'm new to this

So recently I got a Belkin router that has 4 ports one of which I would like to go to my computer and the other to my xbox for xbox live. I have yahoo dsl internet and normally I just hook up the modem to my computer. When I hook up my dsl modem to my router and set it all up I can't get on the internet. The activity light on my modem doesn't not blink like it normally does but all the others are green like normal. My dsl connection is PPPoE and I don't know how to change that for my router or anything. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here I'm lost.

2x things to check...
1) That your modem is set in bridged mode, meaning it's just a pure modem, not also running as a router which ISPs are doing more and more...
2) Your Belkin will take over as what runs your PPPoE login...if you ran software on your computer before to login for you..you won't be using that anymore. Did you do the PPPoE login on your PC before?
