ok....I have @home.
When they first installed my modem 3 years ago or whatever..I got a 10mb ethernet card right?
What im wondering is....if I upgrade that card to a 100mb ethernet card will my service be considerably faster? Im not capped.
Oh and I also already have a 100mb ethernet card in my computer for my network. But if I take out my 10mb from @home and swap it to a 100mb...will my kbs improve?

thanx

if you have no cap what so ever than the new NIC card would give you great improvement.

The output from a cable modem is limited to 10mbits, so you will not see a faster connection. Sorry, it would be nice, but not permitted in the DOCSIS spec.

the only time 100mb transfer speeds are needed are in a realtime network/lan,unless you are transferring at greater than 10mb sec you won't notice any difference at all,for cable internet use a mb card is all you will need,it's probably a 10/100 card (automatic for 100 when needed)anyway.for most home internet /gaming use you won't get any faster speeds.
