Hey all,

I just switched T1 Providers and I host my own DNS for all my domains. I have made the change to the dns server to reflect the new IP addresses on our new line, and multihomed the servers to run both networks so i have no downtime.

The problem i'm having is the root servers. They still see my ip's as is they were on my old network. If i ping the domains from my office or from home on a separate network, it shows the correct IP address, but if i go to checkdns.net and put in the domain, it says a.gtld-servers.net reports it to the old ip address.

How do they update that and how often? It has only been like 2 days since i made the change, but i would think it would have updated by now...

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Mnemonic

Sounds like you need to update your DNS pointers for the domains you own. Login to your account with your domain registrar and repoint the DNS servers to your new IP under your domain settings. Depending on your registrar, it may take awhile to update to the root servers so don't expect it to be immediate once you re-point the IP.

Yea, I was going to do that, but some domains we dont have access to cause other businesses registered them... so im trying to get this done quickly, the registrar has the same DNS server name, but the IP has changed... i guess i could call them and ask if they can keep the name and just change the address...
