I am paying $34.95 a month for ADSL through Telergy (Central New York company.). I have run every throughput test under the sun and the average seems to be between 900 kbps and 1.2 mbps. I have downloaded several items and my transfer speed seems to be between 100 and 120 kbps.
Considering price and speed, rate my connection on a scale of 1-10: Thanks.
Well, since your averaging 900kbps to 1.2mbps, I assume you ordered a 1.5mbps connection? If this is the case, your pretty much getting what your paying for. JFYI, due to transmission overhead, you will only see about 85% of your connection rate.
10, if you purchased a 1.5mbps package, b/c I payed $50/mo. for my former DSL connection, which was 1.5mbps. Plus, my downtime was unacceptable, to say the least.

yeah, i would agree...... as time goes on, you may place a certain amount of value on certain little details. like upload cap, ping times, homepage services, static or dynamic ip's, etc,.
but based on the info you gave, it does sound like you are getting what you are paying for. i would say between an 8 and 10, in my opinion, depending on what the other details of your package are.
i am sure that people with really good cable connections would rate it lower due to transfer speeds, but its really an apples to oranges comparison (once again, IMO)

I'd give u a 7-8, i pay 34.99 for my cable modem and my average is about 2500-3500kbps(high of 8800 lasted but 5 mins),depending on which site i test, and i dl between 300KB and 600KB ur speed for dsl is great but i think its too much money though its probably one of the cheaper ones around
As smaier69 said, it's not really fair to compare cable to DSL. It's like comparing aples to oranges.

Compared to what I get you get a 10. I have a 2.3meg SDSL line and I download at about 80kbs. I pay 150 for my connection to boot.
