Hi,
My friends and I would like to set up a wireless LAN between our houses for gaming and file sharing but not for sharing internet access. There are two people at my friends house and two at mine so a total of four computers would be on this LAN. We have a straight line of site of 150 ft (I added 20 ft to what we measured just to be safe) from their window to mine. We have tested my friends cordless 2.4 Ghz wireless phone by brining into my house and by walking up the street. With his phone inside my house there is a little static while talking to someone. Walking up the street it's 100 % clear till about 400 ft past my house.
I've read a lot on the ezlan.net site still not 100% on what we need to pull this off. I was thinking of getting two cheap wireless G routers. We both have our own broadband connections so we aren't interested in sharing internet access. We both have wired routers at our houses already with two ports being used on both. I was thinking of putting each router on the window sill so the only physical thing between them would be two pieces of glass. The only other things I can think of that could effect it would be his cordless phones, there is a transformer outside between us about 30 ft to the left of our line of site. What I really want to know is what we'll need to do this. If anybody has done something similar or has any urls that could help I'd appreciate it.
Long Post so he're some cliff's:
We'd like to setup a wireless network between two houses
All we want to do is game and share files
We're about 150 ft apart
We have a straight line of sight
We don't want to share internet connections
What do we need to do this?
TIA :)

It's an old product..only "B" and WEP....a quick search on Google shows it only being reviewed and avail in '05...I'd guess it's long been disco'd. Maybe search fleabay.

Intended use will help narrow down choices. Just a home setup with 1x PC? Complexity of surrounding area for wireless? Gaming? Sharing of files on a LAN? Or business? So extra security features and concurrent users, etc etc.

I only want to receive on my laptop a WI FI Internet signal coming from a conventional router from one house to another at a distance of 300 feet aproximately.
the Wireless Routes is a DLink DI-524, 802.11g/b, 54Mbps, 400m Outdoor, Lan: 4 x RJ-45 (100Base-TX), Wan: 1 x RJ-45 (100Base-TX).
Thanks.

I had a heck of a time till I figured it out through lots of testing.
The more layers of walls the signal has to go , the weaker the signal. Antennas do not boost enough for straight through, I tried 6dbI directional and 9dbI omni.
Here is what worked.
- G Router (extreme N) w/detachable antennas - with 6dbI directional antenna (if distance large) pointing toward remote house/location.
- G REPEATER (C710) with omni antenna (9dbI if distance large) at remote house/location.
- G cards in all computers within remote house/location.
modFar distances you get into 1/outside antennas and if really far 2/amplifiers.
..good luck...Steve

Thanks Steve. I resolved the problem with a "G" access point and a directional 6db antenna.
