Using Agent 1.8 and downloading with cable modem!

Hi all,
i'm running win 98 with a cable modem and a linsys 4 port router. I'm using forte
agent 1.8 to download files from my isp's
newsgroups. The problem is that it takes about 3 minutes to download a 1.5 meg file!
This seems way too slow. I've installed the patches and tweeks on this site and it did'nt
make a difference. It seems my other download speeds are anywhere from 50k to 100k. Is there something with agent thats causing this or downloading from newsgroups in general? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Running on both win98 and win2k pro and a Linksys 4 port, cable modem- @home.

Which ISP?

Some ISPs are now in the process of capping the downloads from their news servers. For example, SWBell has capped the downloads at 128kb/s. Yes, that's right, 12k per second, IF you can get that much.

If this is the case, you're not going to be going much faster anytime soon. Still, given my situation (and my having to get a Newsguy account, which is getting faster by the way...), I'd take 1.5Meg in 3 minutes GLADLY.
