so, my local cable company (Cox, ie.. ****s)will be offering digital cable internet access in about 2 months. I was wondering, do you think that this will be subject to peak time lag just like "normal" cable, cuz i had normal crap cable b4 i got my adsl and it sucked. They say it will be 1.5 down, 256 up. just curious if any body knows anything... cuz i dont, and cox cable dont know nuthin yet either, cuz ive called them.

I believe that in order for a cable operator to provide cable Internet over their existing infrastructure, it would all need to be upgraded to fibre on their back end, hence allowing digital cable offerings. You will definitely enjoy much sharper picture, not to mention many more channels for the same monthly access fee.

Did they offer cable modems before the upgrade to digital?

If so,it may mean that they are switching over to DOCSIS. DOCSIS uses the same downstream protocl. MPEG-2, as digital video.
