Annoying problem with my DSL

I am computer illiterate. Anyway, I just got DSL, which I am quite happy with, but everytime I open IE after connecting, something annoying happens- the browser just sits there, with the words "Detecting Proxy" in the lower left hand corner. You can't load up pages for about 30 seconds after you open the web browser. This isn't a huge problem, but it would be nice to know if there is anyway to fix this. Thanks.

Ok what I did is go to tools, internet options, connections, lan settings and see if proxy is checked and bypass proxy is checked. hope that works for you It did for me http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
