I have been using cable access for a year with no complaints at all--This is the first time that I have seen this..My RD and TD lights on my cable modem as everyone knows starts flashing like crazy when theres activity. For the past week my TD light is constantly blinking and only that light untill i start to download something then its normal.. So my question is why is my transmitting data light flashing on its own.

Hmmm... Do you have any way to check if there is actually data going out? If not, get something - you could try this little freeware program, called Net Stat Live :
Check it out here (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/nsl.htm)
I think we need to find out if there's stuff going upstream, or if the light is just blinking...

Good Luck!

ok - Well, if it were me, with my limited knowledge - I'd probably install a program like ZoneAlarm or some firewall proggie to try and see who/where/what... and if it makes it stop.
Good Luck!

robrecc, it's just your ISP checking to see if your still there. I have ATT@Home and an RCA DCM105, which does the same thing all the time. If your worried about hackers, get a software firewall, such as ZoneAlarm or BlackICE.
