I am looking to convert a few gigs worth of .shn files. The only problem is the finished product on the few I have tested have a hiss in the backround thats not there when I play them in winamp. I use the shnamp plugin for winamp so that I can just listen to them on my computer without converting.

I use foobar2000, flac frontend, and md5 summer to convert these files but its a long process and the hissing in the finished product has me angry. Also these are some huge files for songs as they range from 20mb per song to 80mb. Bit rate is showing 1411kbps. Any other programs out there that will help me on this I could use bigtime. Thanks for looking and any replys!! :)

Also I am new to these files types and converting them so if you need anymore info then let me know.

try using dbpoweramp with the .shn and flac codec's, and convert them over to flac.

MP3's so I can put them on a cd. :) I am a newbie at this kind of thing but am trying to get into it more because I find that I like the live shows alot better than what you get on the commersial cd of the artist.

I wasn't aware that Foobar could play shn files. As long as you can play them, converting to mp3 should be a snap.

Dunno what md5 summer is, but hey, try this.

Load your shn files in your playlist. Highlight them and right click/Convert/Settings

In the Output settings drop down list, choose one of the Lame settings. Medium for smaller settings or Extreme for the best sound. This will use the LAME encoder to make your mp3's.
