This is the card details in the NEC computer at the moment. It has WEP but I want to upgrade to WPA capabilities. Do I need a new PCI card altogether? If so, which one should i replace with for the Centrino wifi set?

That's a "B" only wireless NIC....you need "G" or higher (Pre-N/MIMO) to get support for WPA.

Guessing this NEC is a laptop? And this is a built on, or daughtercard?

Can disable it, pickup a PCMCIA "G" NIC, and as long as your router/WAP supports G...you'll be good to go with WPA.

"Centrino" is my favorite laptop chipset...but it's not just a wireless NIC...it's the entire chipset, comprised on the Intel Pro, the motherboard chipset, and Pentium Mobile processors. It's not something you can purchase to add to your existing laptop.
