Ok when you talk to a cable tech support.. they usually tell ya to turn off your computer, turn off your router,modem.. well i can see the modem but i don't see the need to turn off a computer since they acquire ip automatic and repairs its own connection. Is this something needed to be done each time? i'm just curoius cause doesn't make any sense to me.

Its probably easier to tell the person to turn it off instead of going through the network properties menu to "repair" the connection. Its not something thats needed each time but sometimes you would need to do 1 or the other, rebooting is an easier solution.

It's just something that most Tier 1 reps need to do. It usually does take care of majority internet issues by rebooting the modem.
