On the advance tweaking page it shows you how to find out the MTU of your isp by pinging it in DOS. I keep trying but it keep getting a "unknown host" message. Please help.

Unknown host = typo or invalid IP/web address

BTW, you don't need to use your ISP's site -- you can use your gateway or any other web site.

To find your gateway:
Win2k: Start > Run > type 'cmd' > hit enter > type 'ipconfig /all' > hit enter
Win9x/ME: Start > Run > type 'winipcfg' > hit enter

Wouldn't it be easier to just run tracert?

Tracert won't help you determine your ISP's MTU. See the very top of this (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_registry_advanced.shtml) page for more info.

Leave out the square brackets. The command should look like:

ping -f -l 1472 123.123.123.123
