I had a Motorola SB5120 that worked perfectly with a D-Link DI-524 router and a D-Link DWL-G510 wireless card for about a month. Then terror struck.

There was a small power outage where I live(West Covina, CA). The power was cut for a few seconds and then it returned. That kept happening for a few hours.

I had to reconfigure the router after the outage. I tried the connection, and it was still working fine...until about 5 minutes in. Then the connection on my 2nd computer (wireless card) froze for a few seconds. That kept happening randomly , there was no way you could tell when it was going to happen again...

So, I originally thought it was my router's fault. Found out it wasn't, scoured various forums, updated to SP2...Nothing. Nothing fixed it.

So I was wondering...How can I fix this problem? Or should I just get a new modem?

btw, I have Charter High Speed.

Thanks in advance.

Is this just a wireless problem or an internet problem. Dlink wireless cards suck, their routers work great but the cards are terrible. If it's just a wireless problem then try a new wireless card, anything but Dlink.

I think it has something to do with the cable modem. I connected the computer directly into the cable modem without the router and the problem was still there on that computer.

Whew. I've fixed it.

IEEE 802.1x authentication somehow got turned on again.

I'm only 14, these things don't come easily.

I think you just saved me, Aerious. I found IEEE Authentication on too and I do not use wireless, I am hard-wired into the system. If you did, thanks for bringing that last post up.
