If his ISP uses PPPoE, then use the PPPoE patch, and vise versa.

If he doesn't know, have him check the list of installed adapters on his PC -- there should be a PPPoE adapter of some sort. If there isn't, then he isn't on PPPoE. Also, if he is on PPPoE, he would have to log in every time before being allowed online.

which one should my friend who is on Qwest DSL use? The Sguide_bla_bla_PPPoe patch, or the one without PPPoe?????
