I have gnet ip0008 router that has both a com port an a standard IEEE printer connection. The printer I have has both the IEEE and a ethernet connection (cat5).

I will be network this unit through the router so I was just wondering what the diff is and if there is a preference.

Thanks

I would vote for TCP/IP, since native support is built right into Windows (assuming you're using 2K/XP)

By using the built in parallel print server in the router, you'll probably be using some proprietary software. The only print servers I like are HP Jet Directs.
