Is this easy to setup? I want to be able to connect to a Windows 2003 (Enterprise) server from my machine (Windows XP sp2).

Very easy. Can connect using the IP, or if DNS is setup correctly, using the NetBIOS name of the host machine.
If running the firewall on your server, or XPpro host machine, make sure it's set in the exceptions. If 3rd party, port 3389 UDP.
On vanilla server, it's (host mode) not enabled by default (just like on WinXPpro)...you have to enable it.

I just hope I actually remember to follow through and do this.

YOSC,
What would be the better route, Remote Desktop or VNC?

I prefer RD over VNC. It feels faster and smoother than VNC and also lets you print remotely, which is a cool feature. Also, audio played on the remote machine will play through the local machine. It's a cool feature when I am at work and watching a streaming video on my remote pc that's blocked by my work firewall :D

This is really nice! Enabled on the server and made the connection from my machine and no problems at all!
Having the ability to not sit in the room with the server to troubleshoot Veritas backup is :2cool:

Yah it rocks! I generally prefer RD over PcA or VNC in most cases.
