In counter-strike (non-source) I max out at 100 FPS with my new 6600GT card, I got that sometimes with my old Geforce 2, it stays exactly at 99.9/100, it doesn't fluctuate. I have vsync disabled and in the game the max fps is set at 300. Is there something I need to enable/disable to go above this fps?

What are you using to check the frame rate? Ingame or Fraps?

*reminds you the human eye can only see a max of 60fps*

there is a cvar command in counterstrike to adjust the maximum FPS

fps_max 300

try that. in the console, or add it to the autoexec.cfg file for CS

by default it is set to 60FPS, you can set it to 100 and that is the max that game engine will go.

someone prove me wrong please

unless they have changed something in the last few years of HL :)

In some FPS games, the clients frames per second can affect wether a precision shot hits home or not. It was a big deal in the Quake2 days with the rail gun. Some with a much higher FPS "could" get more updates per second from the server...depending on how their network rate was set, and thusly give a slight edge with railgun shots.

So, wether or not the eye can detect it isn't the only factor.

99 is the max for I know BF2... but I've seen Aquamark go way over 170 or more while running a test.. so I know it can be better!
These game makers just need to push the limits more.
