Phoneline networked computers won't talk to each other

I have two brand new Gateway computers connected via a 3Com phoneline networking package. The installation went seamlessly, but the computers won't recognize each other in Network Neighborhood and the cards themselves show no "link". Is this a wiring issue or is this maybe a faulty card? Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Is File/Printer Sharing and Client for MS Networks bound to the LAN protocol? Has each computer been logged in to? Does each computer have a unique computer name w/ the desired resources shared?

All that glc1 said and have you tried adding NetBEUI - that sometimes helps.

NetBEUI helps cause it's a broadcast protocol

it's a last resort method if you can't get TCP/IP to work...
