I have my westell 2200 modem brigged and my netgear WGR614v2 router hooked up but the problem is my internet is really slow on my host computer. I have tried everything i can think of. I also canot change my MTU no matter what i do. Here are my specs
TCP options string = 0204058401010402
MTU = 1452
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.
MSS = 1412
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
519616 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
259808 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
129904 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
64952 (MSS x 46)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 56 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

Try thease in the sg optmizer below me to download and install
check - custom settings
network adapter selection -
check modify all adapters
maxmtu 1492
TTL - 64
TCP Receive blank
MTU Discovery - yes
Black Hole Detect - no
Selective Acks - yes
Max Dup ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 nothing is checked
Other Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
Lan Browsing Speedup - optimized
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect.
VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. For a stand alone pc all you need is Internet Protocol TCP/IP.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer and set your duplex mode to "auto". If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clean out your temporary internet files with CrapCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com).
5. Power cycle your modem i.e. unplug it for at least 15 seconds.
6. Download, update and scan with SpyBot S&D 1.4 (http://majorgeeks.com/download2471.html) EXACTLY as mnosteele has explained HERE (http://broadbandnuts.com/drtweak/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=41) & Ad-Aware SE 1.06 (http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download) EXACTLY as mnosteele has explained HERE (http://broadbandnuts.com/drtweak/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=40) to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster 3.4 (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES. If these 2 programs find a lot of things then please post a HijackThis 1.99.1 (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html) log for us to look at.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in our Help & Tips (http://broadbandnuts.com/index.php?page=tiptrix) page.
8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it and search your pc for the left over files.
9. Install Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 (http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page7.html#Kerio%20Personal%20Firewall), it's FREE and uses next to no resources.
10. Do a FREE online virus scan from Kaspersky Webscan (http://www.kaspersky.com/beta), make sure to check the option to use the EXTENDED DATABASE.
11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.

I tried what ya said but nothing changed. Is it possible that my router is limiting my MTU. I am new to the networking thing so bare with me. Here is my results which is about the exatct same thing no matter what I do. Thank you for all your help. You are the man.

PS Even thoug i leave the RWIN blank it still defaults to what is above. Any way I can do it in the registry maybe.

try thease the mtu is probably stuck on the router make sure the firmware is up to date on the router hopefully you have the manual it will show you how to change it if it's in there if not www.netgear.com (http://www.netgear.com) i'm sure has a copy of it in a pdf file. www.adobe.com (http://www.adobe.com) get the acrobat reader to view though.

Well I logged into my router and found that it was set to 1500. I also reset it and still no change. Now could this be because my westell 2200 is brigged or should that not make a differance. Thank you for all your help by the way. Sorry to be a pain. I set it up the way that the verizon website said to do for a Linksys because there is no info for a netgear on there site. When i had it set up without it brigged it had intermittent internet drops on the host computer. since i brigged it that has gone away but my internet is slow. I have applyed all the tweaks and everything and also this is on a freshlt reformatted computer with all the updated drivers.

your mtu should bee 1492 on the router the modem might have an mtu option as well since it's a bourter so find the manual for the modem and it should tell you how to change the mtu there too

Well I checked both and my Westell modem is set to 1540 by default and there is no way to change it. I really think it is because it is bridge and nothing I can do about it which really is a bummer. Thank you for your time and paitance with me. I am still trying on this and will keep ya posted. If by any chance you think of something just let me know.
Thanks agin for all your help it is much appreciated. :)
