Once I thought that a DSL modem can not affect latency so much but D-Link DSL-604+ had changed my mind! While people with the same bandwidth and same ISP get 40 ping, I get 70 to 80 and I absolutely know that it is caused by modem, not settings, registry, distance etc.. Because I borrowed Zoom 5x and my latency drops to 40...
I want to buy a new, stable, low latency! modem. I can not endurce this pathetic modem :irate: The new one does not have to be wireless and I prefer to connect via ethernet to USB.

Zoom is just a proof :) There can be better ones.
By the way, is there an Adsl Modem review site besides http://www.adslguide.org.uk ?

Pay attention to D-Link 604+
Netgear DG834 seems to be a good one but I can not find it in here.

Are you talking about a router, or a modem, or a combo device?
Of the home broadband routers, I find the Linksys BEFSX41 is one of the faster models. Not the SR41 series, but the SX41 series...much faster CPU in them. 166MHz cpu I think.

Also Linksys RV0 series..which is substantially more expensive, more SOHO grade...but much fasters, 533MHz CPU.

Sonicwall routers, Cisco PIX routers, Netopia routers...but they're quite expensive.

Netopia 35xx series combo DSL modem/router is also quite fast, SNET/SBC uses them in their 6 meg DSL packages, I use one of them at home often.

I don't want a standalone router. I'm looking for a Modem or a Combo.
And I have never heard of Netopia or Sonicwall brands before :). Brands avaible in Turkiye are here (http://www.hepsiburada.com/department.aspx?categoryID=857)
(Not all of them but I think a big ratio is listed there)

I apologise as this might be a bit off topic but do cable modems affect latency in the same way that DSL modems stated here do?
