Slow video streaming ang gaming with wireless

My wireless connection indicates "very good " and even "excellent" sometimes and shows 11Mbps most of the times. However, video streaming is horribly slow and breaks every almost every 10 secs. My online games are also slow and no one wants to play me because of the lag. My linksys card is 802.11b. Can someone please help!

I am not sure if it's the wireless connection ' cos gaming is slow sometimes even when I connect directly to the modem.

are u using any p2p programs or bittorrent?? Using programs to download eat mega bandwidth... shut down these and this should improve.

You don't say what your ISP's connection is, but if you have the money, you should consider upgrading to Wirless-G. I have a 4Mb download/384 kbps upload connection with a Linksys WRT54G. If my connection dropped to 11 Mbps from 54 Mbps I'd have trouble just opening my homepage never mind playing streaming video and playing games. Also, If you are comparing wireless to wired, wireless is slower and if you have WEP or WPA/WPA2 encryption set, it will slow down your connection.
