I'm Kinda new to the networking thang, but I recently set up a client P-C on a home network via a little Di-604.

I have manged to get the P-C's to link, however in 'properties' for the Local Area Connection Icon, I have the :-

'Client for Microsoft Networks' installed and selected;

Service - 'File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks' installed and selected;

Protocol - NWLink NetBIOS installed and selected;
Protocol - NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol installed and selected;
Protocol - Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) installed and selected

I am just using the network for playing LAN games with the kids; sharing snapshot folders and ultimately sharing the Printer... and my question is do I really need all three protocols running? cos I ain't sure that I need 'em all :confused:

You do not need only Internet Protocol TCP/IP installed!
unninstall two protocols. Your connection will faster.
Good Lucky!
