i'm just talking the consumer-grade version you'd use with say.... a nF3 chipset mainboard.

never used it myself, but am building a sys for a coworker's daughter, and i would prefer to not have to deal with a phone call every time she wants to install an app like ICQ or Limewire or whatever.

kind of a difficult question i know, but if it helps, she is 13, and more of a misic/photo type of user (not yet a geek). i would prefer to install the free firewall from her ISP, as she can call them instead of me for tech help regarding that.... but, a driver-level firewall would obviously be better than a software-level one, right?..... provided its somewhat intuitive for the casual user i mean.

not really.

I dont use the nvidia firewall because it's a hog on resources and there have been numerous reports of people having trouble with it.

stick with the isp's firewall. I use sygate myself.
