Hi,

I have a Belkin 802.g wireless hub with ADSL modem. WEP encryption at the lowest lavel, I have broadband internet a 512K bps.

My desktop PC has an 802.g card, laptop has an 802.b cisco card.

My Laptop is a work one and is screwed down pretty tight so the only way to transfer files between the two is t use a VPN connectin.

I have this setup and working but the speed is pretty poor, around 130K bps.

I use the laptop down stairs to capture video frm a USB device and I want to store this on the desktop PC in the study as it has a much bigger HDD and DVD writer.

At the lowest quality the link nearly keeps up but the is just too slow.

I have just set another VPN link using a CAT 5 cable directly connected, the laptop is 100M and the desktop 1G ethernet, no hub is used.

The transfer speed now reached around 4.5M bps, much more acceptable and the network utilization is around 75%, with the wireless VPN it is around 12%.

What should I be expecting over wireless, I'm dissapointed I cannot stream video or transfer a 5G file unless I leave it going over night.

Any ideas on what I can do to increase the performance?
