My IBM X32 with Intell Pro Wireless 2915abg does not match the speed of my Toshiba A75 with Atheros AR5004G. The Intel is limited to 54 mps and the Atheros is at 108 mps with both receiving data from a NETGEAR 108 MPS WGT 624GT v2 wireless router. Netgear could not help and refered me to IBM. IBM techs are glueless as how to adjust setting to receive 108 mps on the installed Intel. How can I reslove the IBM/Intel speed deficiency?

I believe that Atheros wireless chipset that you have supports Super-G, which your router also supports.

Don't worry about it much, run a file transfer benchmark from both laptops, you'll see that A) they don't actually reach near those speeds anyways, and B) if you're using wireless for internet access, anything above 5 megs doesn't matter much.

Intel 2915 is limited in 54M, so your 108M wifi card also is only working at 54M. You need to change the 2915 to IBM 802.11a/b/g Atheros wifi card or Atheros 802.11b/g, using Atheros 5213a chipset as well.

the intel 2915 a/b/g was the fastest i could order in my new dell laptop... which sucks because most other makers offer an "enhanced" G card. My solution was to just buy a D-Link 108m router and matching pcmcia card. Wasn't going to "splurge" on a new router + card but Newegg has the kit for $80 and there's a $40 rebate right now... so 108mbs for $40... not bad
