1x higher speed broadband account. 25 PCs online will quickly bring a standard 1.5 meg downstream or even a 3.0 meg downstream network to its knees rather quickly. I'd shoot for trying to get a business account 6 meg DSL line or something like that.
PPPoE, Point to Point Protocol Over Ethernet...it's basically an authentication protocol which requires a username and a password. That's how many DSL providers (such as the phone company) allow users to connect to their DSL. Basically it's like a dial up adapter which runs over the DSL line. Just like in the dial up days with modems, you'd create that profile in DUN where you'd enter your username and password.
You'd want a pretty decent router, at least SOHO grade, not a 50 dollar home market router. This will have a pretty decent load on it, so a mid-range or higher router will work more reliably for you. If you're network will be getting a lot of heavy use, perhaps even consider getting two broadband connections, and load balancing that with a dual WAN port router like a Linksys RV0 series.
If the buildings are close to each other, I'd look at connecting them using an ethernet cable run between them. Not knowing the details, such as if they are on the same property, perhaps there is conduit running underground into the basement of each where you could run a CAT5 in between them. Or if there are phone lines connecting the buildings, an un-used pair you could utilize to get a 10 meg connection between the buildings.
If hard wiring is not an option, you could get point to point wireless units on each building facing each other to connect the buildings.

Hey thr
thnx for ur reply
the buildings are very close say approx 70-80 metres away
so hard wiring will b gud enuf
but the problem isnt the distance its the speed
from where i am DSL is as fast as 1.5mb only
and the situation here is that ppl will b very happy 2 get even 40.96kb (1mb\25)
coz the basic connection here is dial-up
if u could just explain 2 me the procedure for establishin a connection from the DSL to the router it would b quite helpful
1 more thng now tht the router n DSL modem is connected i m pretty sure each pc will require a network adapter rite??????
what brand would u suggest?????
thnx again

DSL line in == DSL Modem ---to--- WAN port on Router---from Router ports #1-4orhigher each Cat5cable to each computer... you can also use one of the ports on the router to hook to a single printer so each computer can use that one Printer ya only need to install the printer software on each computer that will be using it.
its very simple and the routers usually come with instructions anyway.
Plenty of places on the net to purchase Cat5 cables in any amounts of lengths you need either with connectors already on or you put them on yourself.
