View Full Version : ATI Radeon 9550 256mb Video Card
I have a friend who showed me BF2. He also had to upgrade his computer.
He got a ATI Radeon 9550 128mb video card and it looks great on his computer.
I plan on purchasing the 256mb one from this site for $95

Is this compatable with the Dell 8200?

128MB of system memory

Power supply of 350 (and up) watt is highly recommended for system stability.
In another thread Sava700 said this about video cards.
Any of those should work.. but be advised to keep an eye on the power supply abilities what you have is able to average 250watts and peak 375.
If this card uses 350 watts will I be ok?
Also if you know a better card for under $100 that will work with a Dell 8200(and BF2) that would be great.
I don't think you have a problem running it. It depends on what else you have going such as number of hard drives etc. There's a site out there where you enter what you have hooked up and it tells you the power it requires. Can't find the link though.
The high end cards are the power suckers.
BTW my brother-in-law is running it on an ATI 9000 just fine. With a 250 watt psu.

I agree here.. just depends on what your running with it... I would say yes it will run on that 8200. But if you have a bunch of other stuff in there too it might not but If not ya can just upgrade the PS then or take some stuff out. Just also keep in mind that with a Dell the cooling abilities suck, when I put a 6800 GT in mine I had to upgrade the PS also.. but then ran into it putting off alot of heat which in turn made the system louder and I didn't want that or something to burn up.. so I just got a exhaust Slot fan

which they are really cheap at 4$ to help keep the system cool.
I also cut a hole in the top of the case and put in a 120mm fan for pulling air out the top too but that requires a little more trouble since if your case is like mine it splits apart up there :D
Ok thanks. I had dibs on Kyles 9800pro until I remembered power supply. According to spongebobsuprades some people run the 9800pro on a stock Dell 8200. But I dont want to take that risk.
I think I am going to upgrade to 768mb of RAM and buy a ATI Radeon 9550 256mb video card along with that fan sava700 mentioned.
Here is the total of what it take for me to run BF2:
$171.98(rambus)+ 94.99(video card)=$266.97+ shipping= about $275
$275+$5(fan)+$53(BF2)= $333 to play BF2
Thanks for the help everyone. :thumb:

I can play it on my old system no problem.. but I built this one just for that game nothing else!
I put over 7,000$ into it thats monitor and all.
Only running into one issue right now I'm trying to fix but overall running great!

Hey Sava, where did you put the fan? Picture, drawing, or diagram would be nice. :D

It goes into 1 of your PCI slots. You just screw it in like you would a PCI card.
