I've spent hours reading tutorials and recommendations over at DVDHelper.com and doom9, and feel no closer to a clear idea on the best solution to burn XviD and DivX files to mpeg-2 compliant DVD's (so I can play them in my set-top box).

can anyone who is competent and has a regular procedure fill me in on the easiest and best methods they use, be it freeware or otherwise. I don't really care about menus and crap like that, I would just like to put some clips on a DVD for my mom to be able to easily watch.

TIA

i use TMPGEnc to transcode the videos, or sometimes nervision express if i have one that doesn't play well.

and then TMPGEncDVDAuthor if i used TMPGEnc to transcode.

can do up a short tutorial if need be, but that takes time and typeing on my part :)

I also use TMPGEnc for creating the DVD-compliant files, which can pretty much be dragged and dropped into any DVD authoring program.

I love NeroVision Express, very simple and fast.
