Seems every new modem we swap out now here in Detroit (Comcast@home) @home is throttling their bandwidth to 128kbps upstream and 3mbps downstream. Seems kinda strange, they claimed they'd never cap the downstream, kinda reminds me of RR.

Yeah, I knew that the upload caps would happen, but I had also gotten wind of some downstream caps for us here to happen in the near future as well...not really looking forward to that either...

Have you tried measuring the download using a UDP as opposed to TCP? I believe that 3mbits is as fast as you can go with a 128k upstream and a TCP client that acknowledges every packet.

Somethin to think about, thanks Kip.

I swaped out my old Motorola CyberSurfer Wave for a GI SurBoard 3100
I get better speeds and ping times now...
I usually ping around 10 ms or under to my gateway constantly.
Its wierd but I'm glad my speeds are stable now http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
