Hi,
is there a way to OPEN ports manually??? I can not download anything on Shareaza and SG analyze tells me my ports are closed:
Port 15904 does not appear to be open.
and more of that crap for well known ports, even 80 and 21 even though i'm surfing now .....???!??
I use W95 still (africa) and a modem. P2-350mhz 320 mb
I don't actually know where to post this...

Are you on broadband or dial up?
Router in place
Software firewall of some sort in place?
With those peer to peer downloading programs though, opens up your computer to a whole world of trouble, most likely infested with trojans and worms, I'd be doing some good cleaning of your system.
Here's a guide for some good cleaning and tweaking

listen, for us ancient 16-year olds, it's still clear what 'MODEM' means, so yes, I am on "DyalUbb" (friendly advice to you 12 year old gamers: READ b4 you say something.)
no firewall whatsoever, no router.
but you don't seem really knowledgeable, so maybe you should sit this one out.
that link was rather bland, cobber, thanks though.

Uh, excuse me? You just said "modem"...that could mean cable modem, DSL modem, or dial up modem. For us to help you, we need to know some details.
BTW I was around tweaking back in the dial up days, guess I'll spare you any help about the differences in DUN 1.2, DUN 1.3, and DUN 1.4.
Great attitude that should encourage more help. :thumb:

Also ever heard of brouters???? Alot of folks have been given this networking devices thinking they just had a modem I bet you are one of them.
If you are some kind of computer genius then why are you here??? It's amazing how many people here take time out of there busy life to help others for no money out of there free time that could be doing other things with the family or whatever they could be doing, Of course we get a so called know it all that just saids his two cents and leaves when he was begging for help initally this is the exect reason i hate helping out here if you know the answer then why bother to post.

Okay, you two, maybe i spoke out of turn and too hasty. Sorry. So I use a 56k modem, and I don't have any routers whatsoever.
I'm still interested in software that could OPEN ports instead of closing them since I get this interesting but mysterious message from WinMX "Could not find a TCPIP port open for listening" ??? I mean, waddafuk?? Etc ....
thnaks
