close ports

is there a way to manually close ports, such as a command or something? i know applications open ports, and closing the app will close the port it used; however, so do backdoors. if i have a port open by an application im not using such as AIM or something, and i scan and see its open when it shudnt be, is there a way i can close it? my zone alarm doesnt get them all... thanks!

is there a way to F....ing OPEN ports manually??? I can not download anything on Shareaza and SG analyze tells me my ports are closed:


Port 15904 does not appear to be open.

and more of that crap for well known ports, even 80 and 21 even though i'm surfing now .....???!??
