View Full Version : Quick Watchguard question
I support a company running a Watchguard Firebox III model 800. I've configured a new policy and it works fine. My problem is with Policy Manager interface. I've saved the policy to the firewall, but when I open Policy Manager, It opens a blank config. If I choose to open the Firebox directly, it prompts me to save the config before opening the running policy. I don't get this, and it's annoying. With the original policy running, once I type in the passphrase, it opens up the currently running policy. Any thoughts?

Have you been keeping a local copy of each config on the hard drive as well? You should always save a config to the local hard drive before pushing it out to the firebox. When you connect to the firebox, you should just enter the "read" passphrase and then when you go to policy manager it always opens the latest local copy of the config file. If the local config file is missing, it will just default to a blank config file unless you open the config straight from the firebox.
Have you upgraded to the latest version of System Manager yet? It's up to version 8.00 now and a few vulnerabilites and issues have been ironed out.
Good luck with it.. :thumb:
Thanks for the reply. I have a saved copy of the config on the hard drive. Maybe I should try to save it again. I haven't upgraded the System Manager yet. I've been a little nervous about doing it.
